Starter kit guide
Drone accessories worth buying — and what to skip.
Buy what extends your practice time and protects your gear. Skip everything else until you know your actual flying habits. Always verify compatibility with your exact drone model first.
Buy these first
The four accessories that actually matter.
Everything else can wait until you understand your flying style and specific model requirements better.
Extra Batteries
Most important first purchase after the drone itselfOne battery gives you 18–31 minutes of flight depending on your drone. That is barely enough to learn the controls before the session ends. A second battery doubles your practice time and removes the anxiety of watching the battery meter. A third makes a full session genuinely relaxed.
Battery compatibility is not interchangeable. Only use batteries officially compatible with your exact drone model. Using the wrong battery can damage the drone or create a fire risk during charging.
Search by your specific model name to find compatible batteries. Check Amazon for current pricing.
Memory Card
Required if your drone records to removable storageMost DJI drones require a microSD card for photo and video storage. DJI recommends cards with at least UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3) and Video Speed Class 30 (V30) for 4K recording. A slow or unsupported card causes dropped frames, recording stops, or corrupt files.
64GB is enough to start. Samsung and SanDisk are the most commonly recommended brands for DJI drone compatibility. Always verify the card is on DJI’s recommended list for your specific model.
Check your drone’s manual for the recommended card spec. Check Amazon for current pricing.
Worth adding early
Protect the gear and extend sessions.
Carry Case or Bag
A case that fits your drone, controller, batteries, and propellers protects everything in transit. Look for layouts designed for your specific model — arm span, controller shape, and battery dimensions all vary.

Spare Propellers
Props nick on grass, hard landings, and tip-overs. A pack of spares is inexpensive and can save an entire session. Match the part number on your existing propeller exactly — prop direction and pitch are model-specific.

Landing Pad
A landing pad gives you a clean, visible surface on grass, dirt, or gravel. It keeps camera lens dust down and makes your landing target obvious from altitude. Not required, but useful in rough or dusty conditions.

Compatibility warning
Verify before you buy anything.
Batteries, chargers, cases, propellers, and memory cards are not universal across drone models. A battery made for the DJI Mini 3 will not work in the DJI Mini 4K. A case designed for a foldable drone may not fit one with fixed arms. Always search Amazon using your specific model name and verify that the listing explicitly states compatibility with your drone. Check your drone manual for manufacturer-recommended specs before purchasing any accessory.
